What if I am ill or housebound and cannot meet the conditions?

Confessors can commute the work or the conditions for those who are legitimately impeded (N24), and ordinaries can provide where confession or Communion is impossible (N25). The Way of the Cross can be replaced by a quarter of an hour of reading on the Passion (Grant 13). On Divine Mercy Sunday the sick and the housebound have an explicit provision (decree of 2002). At the point of death, if no priest is available, the Church grants a plenary indulgence to anyone duly disposed who has been in the habit of praying, and herself supplies the three conditions (Grant 12).
